Draw in a Sketchbook with Andrew James
Sunday 9 February<br>10am to 4pm <br><br>If you've always wanted to keep a sketchbook, this is the ideal workshop for you- no matter your level of experience.<br>With energy and humour, Andrew James will guide you through a variety of fun ways to draw in a book.<br>We'll do a whole bunch of drawings, from funny doodles to everyday objects. <br>You'll leave with a smile on your face, some drawing in your book, and some new skills and ideas.<br><br>Bring a sketchbook and a pen. Inspired by Boro - Jacket with Clare Smith
Sunday 13 April<br>10:00am to 4pm<br>Anyone interested in simple hand stitching especially sashiko and boro.<br><br>Make the panels for a simple jacket or vest with boro or kantha style running stitch. A simple jacket pattern will be provided but class participants are welcome to use their own as log as they have made a toile ( a test version) to check for fit. The panels for the jacket will be laid out separately in the class and then most of the hand - stitching will be completed at home. Sashiko and boro stitch patterns will be shown in class. There is an opportunity for students to attend the Slow stitch group at KACC to get together and work on their jacket panels. Completion of the jacket and opportunities to get help with this will be discussed in class. <br><br>It is also possible to make a wallhanging, cushion or bag in this class if you don’t have time to complete the stitching on a whole jacket. <br>

Sculpting Animals with Sarah Dean
Mondays 3:30 to 4:45<br>10 February to 31 March<br>Ideal for 9 - 13 year olds.<br><br>Learn the process of making animal sculptures from polymer clay. Every animal sculpture begins with a wire armature, which acts like the animal's skeleton. Learn how to use reference photos to create an interesting and dynamic pose. Build the animal's muscle and flesh around the armature using polymer clay. Bring your sculptures to life with fine details, and textures. Before they are ready to paint, the polymer sculptures are baked in an oven to harden the clay. Once baked, the sculptures are ready to paint!<br><br>A materials charge of $15 is included in the class fee providing students with a block of polymer clay, a wooden board, wire, and aluminum foil.<br>The materials charge allows each student to make one medium-sized animal. If the student is a fast worker or wishes to make a larger animal, extra materials can be purchased through the KACC office for an additional $15.
